About Julie

Julie Funderburk has been working in the fitness industry for over 20 years.  She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Human Nutrition, Foods, and Exercise from Virginia Tech and her Master’s Degree in Exercise Science from Georgia State University.  She is also a certified yoga instructor.

Her fitness career began at Virginia Tech as a group fitness instructor and personal trainer, working with college students and faculty, as well volunteering as a trainer to the Air Force ROTC program.  Since then, she has worked as the coordinator of fitness programs on several college campuses as well as a clinical exercise physiologist at Johns Hopkins weight management center.  Julie has acted as a consultant for several magazines, including Natural Health, and has spoken as a guest lecturer at many businesses and universities, including the University of Maryland.

Julie’s mission is to provide individuals with the knowledge and motivation they need to make exercise a permanent part their lives and to use exercise to promote a better quality of life.  She loves doing in-home personal training because it allows her to work with individuals where they feel most comfortable, in their home.
